President Yoweri Museveni has said he will issue new strategies to contain the spread of coronavirus when he addresses the country next week. He expressed concern that many people have abandoned the existing government directives, leading to spread of the virus.
“People in Kampala have given up in the fight against Coronavirus. They have relaxed so much and now the virus is advancing very fast in Kampala. When I speak next week, I will give you more details,” he said.
Uganda has now registered an average 60 new COVID-19 cases per day in the last three days, with most cases reported in Kampala.
The President insisted that business is not more important than health.
“Everybody should know that we have no alternative. We shouldn’t be shortsighted to think about jobs, businesses and forget life,” he said.
